Saraki: I want Buhari's Job

Senate President Bukola Saraki has confirmed he has been consulting and he is considering running against President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 2019 election.

He made the confirmation in a wide-ranging interview with Bloomberg in Abuja.

Saraki who had evaded the question on his interest in the country’s number one position at a press conference last week, was more forthcoming in the interview:

“I am consulting and actively considering it,” Saraki, 56, said in the interview held at his residence in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

“I believe I can make the change,”  he added.

Since last week, the Senate President had visited two former Nigerian leaders, General Ibrahim Babangida and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at their hilltop homes in Minna and Abeokuta. But he had been coy about his missions to the homes of the two former leaders, who are also opposed to President Muhammadu Buhari and had issued statements, asking him not to run next year.

After meeting Babangida, Saraki  tweeted that he only “dropped in” to pay his respects to “General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. Always happy to be with a father and leader”. In Abeokuta, he said he came to have a look at the monumental Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, which was formally opened in April 2017, the event which he said, he missed.

Saraki who switched from the ruling All Progressives Congress to his old party, the Peoples Democratic Party along with a dozen renegade senators in July, will need to secure the PDP nomination. And he has at least six aspirants to contend with.

Among them are Atiku Abubakar, a former vice-president, who quit the ruling party much earlier to the PDP; Ibrahim Dankwambo, governor of Gombe State, Ahmad Makarfi, a former senator and former governor of Kaduna State. There are also Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State; Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state, who is yet to make a formal declaration of intent and Attahiru Bafarawa, also former governor of Sokoto state.

The party’s primary election is due between 5 October  and 6 October. Political pundits are predicting  a bruising contest among the aspirants.

Saraki had been at odds with Buhari and the APC leaders, since he emerged  as senate president in June 2015. He got the post by playing out many members of his party who were gathered elsewhere for a meeting with Buhari. He struck an alliance with the PDP to claim the position. In return, he traded the senate vice-presidency to the opposition senator, Ike Ekweremadu.

Saraki claimed in the interview with Bloomberg that investors and citizens have lost confidence in President Buhari. The latter claim has been punctured by the wave of victories recorded by the APC in governorship and senatorial bye elections in recent times.

Pundits also believed that investors could not have lost confidence in  Buhari’s administration, if it was able to raise record amounts of money in oversubscribed Eurobond sales and it is attracting foreign loans to rebuild rail, ports and power infrastructure, which the PDP abandoned in 16 years of running the country.

The Senate president in the interview said the blockade of the National Assembly gates by hooded DSS operatives on August 7,  was contrived by the executive  to impeach him, despite the prompt denial by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC and and the sacking of DSS boss, Lawal Daura.

“If a government can go and lock up an arm of government — and it’s never happened in our history — we should all be very concerned,” Saraki said.

“We should not be surprised that they would use security agencies for elections.”

Saraki, who is now the national leader of the PDP, believes the party has learnt its lesson from the loss in 2015. And conversely, he  thinks the APC has  not learnt from its victory.

“While negotiating with the PDP “we listed a number of issues. We talked about how to sustain and improve the fight against corruption; the issue of providing more powers to the states; inclusion and having a more nationalistic approach on things we do; to continue to improve the environment that will ensure investments. We listed a number of items during the discussions with the PDP, and there is a written agreement to that. We trust that we can hold them to that.

“We would ensure that the party is strong on security. The APC too have not done well on the issue of security. We have the opportunity with the right kind of presidential candidate and president to provide the leadership for the party. The party has a good opportunity to lead the country in the right direction.”

Panic As A Man Was Shot Dead In Ado-Ekiti

There was panic in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital on Monday evening as another man was killed by unidentified gunmen in daylight.

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the killing of the man, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, came barely three days after a close ally of former Gov. Segun Oni, Mr. Bunmi Ojo was assassinated in the capital.

Witnesses said the man was shot at a junction close to the end of the newly constructed overhead bridge at the Okesa/Ojumose Area of the ancient town at about 5:30pm.

According to the witnesses, the victim, who was said to be a passenger on a commercial motorcycle, popularly called Okada, was allegedly pursued to the area where he was later killed by his assailants.

NAN learnt that the killers who also came to the scene on another Okada, ordered the operator of the commercial motorcycle conveying the victim to stop at the spot where he was killed and sped-off immediately they achieved their aim.

However, the assailants spared the operator of the Okada.

The body of the shot passenger had since been moved to an undisclosed hospital by sympathisers who felt he could still survive, as he bled profusely.

The incident led to sudden closure of many shops in and around the Bisi Market located close to the area by their owners, even as many residents who either witnessed or got wind of the killing hurriedly left for their homes .

When contacted, the police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) for the state command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu told NAN that the command was yet to be briefed by the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) of the Okesa Division.

He promised to speak on the attack as soon as he got information about the incident.

Senator Akpabio Give Conditions To Declare His Seat Vacant After Defection

Former Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio yesterday broke his silence over reports that his seat would be declared vacant by Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Akpabio said he is not disturbed by the report, saying over alleged plot to declare his seat vacant.

The Akwa Ibom North west senator insisted that if the Senate President declares his seat vacant, Saraki’s seat should also be declared vacant especially when there is no division in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Asked if he is perturbed about reports that his seat might be declared vacant due to his defection to the APC, Akpabio said:

“Even as you are looking at me, do I look perturbed? I have not heard the report. Because the reason why I think that is a rumour is that there is, at the moment, no division in the APC.

“The APC is one family. If you hear about R-APC that was not really a political party that was not a division, has since been consumed in what they call Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

“So, there is no division. And so, any defection from APC to PDP, we will like to declare those seats vacant.”

On the insistence of the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole that Saraki should beremoved if he refused to resign and whether they are mobilising for the impeachment, Akpabio said, “I just came in from Ikot-Ekpene, (Akwa Ibom State) where I decided with my people to join the APC. I’m yet to be briefed on any of those items.

“I have not heard anything. And what I am hearing now is what you are telling me. But why don’t you wait for me to formally talk to you. I believe that when the National Assembly resumes you will hear from me directly. So, exercise patience.”

Akpabio described his defection as “a big event that attracted the high and mighty in the country.”

Prodded to say more Akpabio said “I have noted all your reports. We are also in Abuja. So, thank you for the reports.”

But an official in the Senate President’s office said: “It is part of the blackmail to link Saraki with plot to declare Senator Godswill Akpabio’s seat vacant.

“The processes of declaring a seat vacant is clear. Saraki has nothing to do with the insinuation to declare any seat vacant. We don’t want to be drawn into the unnecessary insinuation.

“It is part of the black because Saraki has no plan to declare anybody’s seat vacant,” says a source in Saraki’s office who does not want his name mentioned.

9 Ways To Make Your Crush Fall For You

When we are crushing on someone, we always wish they’d like us back. But sometimes it doesn’t happen that way. That’s because a lot of people just sit on the sidelines and hope that things will happen. It’s like you have a 20-ft barrier between the two of you, and you just wave from a distance.

Just like God helps those who help themselves, love comes to those who attract it themselves.

If you want to attract your crush, start by just being yourself then follow these helpful, surefire ways to ignite that sought-after spark.

1. Be present.
We can’t like what we do not see or experience. If someone doesn’t know you exist, how will they like you? Currently, that person is your crush. It’s not the other way around at this point, so you may need to put more effort. You may be thinking it’s hard putting yourself out there, which it totally is! But, be brave, you can do it. Be around—wherever they are. Just don’t be a stalker, If it’s an office crush for example, show up at their department or desk at least once or twice a day. Same applies if you are in college.

2. Engage them in conversations.
It is through talking that we get to know what someone is all about. Your crush will like you more by maybe listening to your voice, hearing your jokes or marveling at the smart ideas that come out of your mouth. So don’t be shy to talk to them. Talk about anything.

3. Join in on their pass-time activities.
We are attracted to people who like the same things as us. When your crush has a specific hobby, joining in on it might win you a couple of points. However, don’t pretend you like something when you don’t. Only tag along on things that you can manage.

4. Drop hints.
The best way to go about this has always been making suggestive comments. Drop hints everywhere be it when talking, texting or talking about serious stuff. When your crush asks you something, find a creative way to link it back to your feelings for them.

5. Do not compete.
Sometimes you might not be the only one that likes that person. You might be facing a lot of competition but no matter how stiff it is, don’t openly show your crush that you are competing for them. I know when you’re eager for someone to like you back, things can get out of control. Just a warning: Competing with other people is just the same as showing desperation and it’s definitely not hot. If it’s at work and all people go to the desk of your crush to catch their attention, choose a different strategy. See them outside work for example. You get the drift right?

6. Have a sense of style.
A well-dressed person will always make a good impression on their crush. Even if you are an introvert who doesn’t talk much, having a good sense of style will cover for where you can’t deliver. No one has ever been criticized for looking good.

7. Avoid overthinking.
Let things happen naturally and take a deep breath. Overthinking your every move, word, or text is going to hurt your chances, not help them. Relaxing and letting it flow how it should is a foolproof way to get your crush to like you. Overthinking makes you nervous, tense, and choked up. Relax and let it be.

8. Make friends with their friends.
This part is crucial. If you want to get them to like you, start being friends with their friends. When you’ve got their friends talking about how awesome you are, they won’t be able to help themselves: they’ll start seeing you in a whole new light.

9. Showcase your personality.
Don’t be afraid to show who you really are. Never make the mistake of pretending too. Your dorky, weird, awesome self has to come out of the overbearing shell you’ve got it trapped in if you really want to get your crush to like you. Your personality is what makes you likable in the first place. You might be surprised that those little quirks are what someone is going to like the most about you. So, let them out and don’t hold back if you really want your crush to start crushing on you.

Man To Stand Trial For Killing And Eating Girlfriend

An Indiana man Joseph Oberhansley accused of raping, killing and eating parts of his ex-girlfriend’s dead body is now mentally competent to stand trial, and is ready to tell the court all he knows about the incident, a state psychiatrist says.

Fox News reports that the 35-year-old Oberhansley, of Jeffersonville, U.S., has been committed at the Logansport State Hospital since October 2017, when a judge ruled that he wasn’t competent to stand trial for the 2014 killing of girlfriend Tammy Jo Blanton.

Prosecutors alleged that Oberhansley broke into the Jeffersonville home of Blanton in September 2014, and that he raped her, fatally stabbed her and ate parts of her body.

“This matter has been going on for four years now, and it’s high time that the victim’s family saw justice done,” Clark County Prosecuting Attorney Jeremy Mull told the Courier Journal after the hearing.

The letter from the psychiatrist filed with Clark County Circuit Court noted that Oberhansley’s competency has been restored since he was committed there last October to undergo competency restoration.

In some of his early court appearances after his arrest, Obserhansley had outbursts in court and said his name was Zeus, WAVE3 reported.

Oberhansley’s attorneys requested in court Thursday to have a month to talk with him and form an opinion on his competency.

During the hearing, Oberhansley spoke up, telling the judge he needed to fire his attorneys, according to the Courier Journal.

“They’re trying to control my thoughts,” he said in court; they’re trying to control my mind.”

Judge Vicki Carmichael told him he needed to work with his attorneys, and scheduled another hearing on Sept. 21 to discuss the matter.

Prosecutors have previously said they will seek the death penalty for Blanton’s killing.

Before his arrest in 2015, Oberhansley was free on parole for a previous killing when he was a teenager, according to WAVE3.

5 Truths About Fear You Never Knew

We all know how deteriorating to our health, passion and even dreams fear can be. But we may not totally be aware of some truths about it. You may want your fear to go away at once, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't. Fears are always at the corner and everyone does feel it.

Susan Jeffers, Ph.D shared in her book, "Feel the fear and do it anyway," some truths about fear.

Truth 1: Fear will never go away as long as you continue to grow
As long as you continued to push out into the world, as long as you continued to stretch your capabilities, as long as you continued to take new risks in making your dreams come true, as long as you try to live your passion, you are going to experience fear.

Don't wait till when you are no longer afraid. If you do, you would end up by playing when/then game....Time would have gone

Truth 2: The only way to get rid of the fear of doing something is to go out and do it
My statistics tutor usually say that, there are three things you can do to your problem. One, you can face it, two you can play with it and three, you can run away from it.

The popular saying says, face your fear. That is the best thing you can do to it. If you are afraid of making friends, go out and face it. If you are afraid of speaking in front of people, go out and try it.

let's illustrate it like this.

Do you know that a mountain far away from you is bigger and taller than when you are closer? That is how fear is. When you look at it from afar, it will look big, but the moment you move closer and face it, it begins to diminish.

Do the things you fear, and the death of fear is certain.

Truth 3: To feel better about yourself, go out and do it
The doing it comes before the feeling better about yourself. When you make something happen, not only does the fear of the situation go away, but also you get a big bonus: you do a lot toward building your self-confidence. It's fairly predictable, however, that when you've finally mastered something and gotten rid of the fear, it will feel so good that you will decide that there is something else out there you want to accomplish, and—guess what! The fear begins again as you prepare to meet a new challenge.

Truth 4: You are going to experience fear whenever you are in an unfamiliar territory
Whenever you try to break new ground, make new changes, you are going into an unfamiliar territory. Your comfort zone is a territory you are familiar and comfortable with. Whenever you decide to move out, you will experience fear.

Truth 5: Pushing through fear is frightening than living with underlying fear that come from feeling of helplessness.
No matter how secure any of us feel in the little cocoon we have built for ourselves, we live, consciously or unconsciously, with the fear that the day of reckoning will eventually come.

People who refuse to take risks live with a feeling of dread that is far more severe than what they would feel if they took the risks necessary to make them less helpless—only they don't know it!

TIPS TO CONQUER YOUR FEAR
Do you know what is keeping you in that job and relationship you don't enjoy again? Yes, it is fear.

Below are some tips to help overcome your fear.

1. Pray about it
Whether you are religious or not, prayer has the best healing powers. Telling the MOST HIGH about your fear/problem is the best thing you can do.

2. Identify Your Fears
Know what you are afraid of. Only when identified can you face it.

3. Talk about your fear
Talking about it makes you feel relaxed. Also by sharing with people who you trust, will help a long way. That is why is it of utmost importance to surround yourself with the right set of people.

4. Read Books
Answers to our problems have been provided by those who has experienced such before us. Is it a fear of particular topic that is killing you? Take a book and read.

5. Recite Affirmations
A simple Bible verse like Psalm 23, "The lord is my Shepherd......will do a great deal. Verses like, I can do all things through Christ who strengthened me.

6. Be Positive
Think positively and act positively. You are what you think. Always think of possible ways not the other way around and stay positive.

Whenever you go out, always remember these truths about fear. Your imagination creates the fear, it is not real. Remember, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!

How have you been dealing with fear in the past?

Possessed 14-year-old Girl Killed 71-year-old Woman In Edo State [Details]

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a teenager, Anna Amos, for the murder of a 71-year-old woman in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state, according to Punch.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.

It was gathered that  deceased, Helen Adodo, died after her head was smashed with a stone at her residence on Guobadia Street, Benin.

It was learnt that Amos had been living with the septuagenarian, who was down with a stroke, since March 2018.

Unidentified persons had reportedly sneaked into the residence of the late Adodo at about 7am on Tuesday.

They were said to have blindfolded Amos before killing the septuagenarian.

The incident attracted residents and sympathisers, some of whom wailed as they saw the lifeless body of the victim.

A man, suspected to be the son of the deceased, expressed shock over his late mother’s death, adding that she did not have a disagreement with anyone in the neighbourhood.

A clip obtained by Punch on Wednesday showed the teenager confessing to the crime in the presence of some residents in the area.

In the clip, Amos alleged that she was possessed by a “spirit,” adding that she did not know the number of times the deceased was hit with the stone as she did not know what came over her.

The teenager, however, noted that the deceased did not offend her.

She said, “When I took some plates outside, I took a broom and swept the ground. I stood on the stone and looked up and down. After I did that, something entered my body. I stood on a stone again and looked up and down.

“I took the stone to the veranda and sat on it. Later, I entered the room and did not know when I hit her head with the stone. I did not know what came over me. It was a spirit. It told me to kill her. She did not offend me.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that the command received a distress call over the matter around 8.30am.

Nwabuzor also disclosed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.

He said, “The (distress) caller said that two men came into the residence, murdered the woman and went away.

“However, it was revealed today (Wednesday) that a girl who was staying with her, Anna Amos, was the one that killed the woman. The Anna Amos has confessed that she killed the woman.

“Anna Amos is 14 years old and by law, she is still a minor. But we will do all we can to get to the root of this matter. We will not rely on the confession of that girl because it may not be the girl that is responsible for the killing of that woman.

“Perhaps somebody else did (killed her) and asked this little girl to own up as the culprit. Investigation is ongoing.”

Things You Must Take Note Of Before You Give Up - Obiageli

Don't  complicate life, we won't be here forever, once this day is  over, it's gone forever. Your time is too valuable  to waste on nonsense. No matter what Knocks  you down in life, get back up and keep going. Never give up. Great blessings are as result of great perseverance.

Talking about your joys, good things comes to those  who believe, better things comes to those  who are patient, and the best thing comes to those who don't give up. Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a  difficult one. Disappointment  were not meant to destroy you, they were meant to strengthen you and give you fortitude to accomplish  your God-given  Destiny.

We tend to forget that happiness  doesn't  come as a result of getting something we don't  have, but of appreciating what we do have. Your  child will follow your example  not your advice. One day, you will be just a memory for some  people, so your best to be a good one. Associate yourself with people of good qualith for it is better to be alone than in bad company. Don't fear change, you may lose something good, but you may also gain something great.

When you live what  you have, you have everything you  need. The greatest  act of Faith some days is to simply get up and face another  day. Never let the things you  want make you forget the things you have"GRATITUDE".

Staying loyal to what you said you were going to do, long after the mood you said it in has left you "COMMITMENT".

When you choose to forgive those who have hurt you, you take away their  power. Patience is not the ability to wait, but now you act while you are waiting.

   "I am who I am
    I am wonderfully made
     I am beautiful
     I have a purpose
      I am a masterpiece."

Dont compare your progress with that of others. We all need our own time to travel our own distance. Surround yourself only with people who are going to lift you higher. Bad things happen everyday to everyone, the difference is in how people deal with it When you keep it, you build trust.

Two things define you, your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything. Being honest may not get you o lot of friends but it will always get you the right ones. Working on  yourself  is the hardest part of life. Keep going, no matter where  you are.

Be selective in your battles. Sometimes peace is better than being right. Keep people in  your life who truly love you, motivate you,and make you happy, if you  know  people who do none of these things,  let them go. But acknowledge those who cares about your well being. Be happy not because everything is good, but because you can see the good side of everything "OPTIMISM".

SAY NO TO SHORTCUTS.......NO TO QUICK FIXES.....NO TO BLAMING OTHERS......NO TO  I   WILL DO TOMORROW.....NO TO EXCUSES.
